About Sculpture | |
| SCULPTURES are largely intended for indoor display, away from ultra-violet light, including away from direct sunlight. Multi-Tower installations are designed for the out-of-doors. Unstained individual Towers or ones with certain acid stains may be placed outdoors. COST a wide range of prices which, in many cases, include delivery AND set-up TERMS a 10% non-refundable deposit, check or credit card, reserves sculpture. Balance due: funds wired or credit card, as delivery commences or no later than time of shipment - those genuinely interested may visit my home/studio STONES and/or WOOD STONES Ice Age or volcanic stones, broken and smoothed over multi-thousands of elemental years. Spheres of Stones are hollow, very strong and appear as if water had deepened the colors of dry stones (it is not water but a very strong, clear adhesive). Out of admiration for Joyce Kilmer's "Trees" poem (and because trees supply some of my raw material: see WOOD below) I have written the following poem to honor another of Nature's often overlooked masterpieces: STONES I find that I have never known a poem as lovely as a stone a stone which in the test of time has patiently accepted might crashing so long upon its kin until without became within the beauty of the hidden veins embedded paintings, Nature's way stones are upon the windswept sand one resting in the sculptor's hand while on this Earth some things I own but only God can make a stone (for the analytical ones - yup - men have created artificial stones, may someday create artificial humans - I don't think we'll ever one-up the One which made me possible...... so that I could use these words to express my gratitude and stones to create sculpture) WOOD Fallen wood from trees which beautifully grew in the absolute hope and need to survive, reached toward the sun and then, when life ended, gracefully left behind remnants now cyber-shining in hopesculpture.com - more beautiful when seen in person. It boggles the mind how much beauty is rotting in the woods, gobbled up by termites but then woodpeckers (BIG ones around here) and other critters need food, too. TOWERS Concrete castings made from a custom mold. When the concrete has cured I create a unique acid stain patina for each tower. Individual Towers are signed and dated. Installation Tower sculptures' provenance is well documented. Each individual Tower stands 2 feet tall, has a 21 inch bottom diameter and weighs approximately 120 pounds. Installations are pyramid-like collections of individual Towers. Tower installations (must be level and on stable foundation) can be comprised of: 10 Towers - peak height (top Tower) of 6 feet 4 inches with an equilateral triangular "footprint" of approximately 6 feet each side. 20 Towers - peak height (top Tower) of 8 feet 6 inches with an equilateral triangular "footprint" of approximately 8 feet each side. 35 Towers - peak height (top Tower) of 10 feet 6 inches with an equilateral triangular "footprint" of approximately 10 feet each side. Tower installations could be created as a fountain. A separate concrete installation Bowl concept is on the drawing board. Each Bowl is 18 inches tall and 29 inches at it's "waistline." Each Bowl weighs 300 pounds. They can be sold individually, a singular totem to openness, or as an installation from 4 to 12 Bowls high, stacked one on top of another forming a column of Bowls not unlike a segmented catepillar standing straight upright. The 12 Bowl project will require additional engineering as the top Bowl will be 18 feet above the "floor" and the 12 Bowls will weigh at least 3600 pounds. The 4 Bowl installation will be 6 feet tall. Bowl concepts could be created as a fountain. |
